Destination Orlando Florida: Theme Parks

Destinations No Comments

You’re planning your trip to Orlando, and while you look forward to the exciting rides and spectacular shows, you are counting on a corn dog for lunch every single day. This is a terrible mistake. Food at the parks is varied and delicious, ranging from better-than-fast food to formal gourmet dining.

For a fast meal someplace you can cool down between rides, you can’t beat Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. They have a menu full of Americana, with some nice kosher options. My favorite is the chicken, served with mashed potatoes even better than Mom used to make.

There’s also Liberty Tree Tavern, in Liberty Square. Their pot roast and turkey plates are tasty, and the Butter Griddled Pound Cake is the best dessert in the entire Kingdom. On Main Street, make sure to try Tony’s Town Square. Sit down, relax, and definitely try the baked ziti.

For an additional taste of Hollywood while you’re wandering Hollywood Studios, go to the Brown Derby. They have a wide range on their menu, and you can gaze at the stars (so to speak). If you’re looking for something more mid western than coastal, then the 50’s Prime Time Cafe is where you want to head. And if you want to travel farther afield, the Italian at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante might be just what you’re traveling to find.

If you go to the Animal Kingdom, you have to try the Rainforest Cafe. The walls and ceiling are covered with foliage, and when it rains, the elephants, gorillas, and other animals all come to life. It is a bit more expensive than some other places you could eat, but watching your kids experience a rainforest when all they were expecting was a burger is priceless.

You can find vegetarian fare at the Tusker House buffet, and even the carnivores will enjoy the spiced tofu. Epcot has wonderful restaurants representing food around the world. They are wildly popular, and can get very busy, so be sure to call ahead to see if you need reservations. Le Cellier in Canada serves a steak that is a must-taste, but my favorite is Yorkshire County Fish Shop. It is busy, and hard to find a seat, but even standing, the fish and chips are the highlight of the park.

Great Hotels in Britian

Destinations No Comments

Staying in the best hotel is often impossible if you want to get an affordable price at the same time. Frequent travelers somehow manage to get the best rooms, in some of the grandest hotels available, wherever and whenever they go. There are at least five hotels in Britain that meet the highest standards of care and are still quiet unique.

Lord Poulett Arms – it will take you back to the Authurian era with it’s arm chairs and roll top baths. Even the walls are real ham stone. The utilitarian aura is completed by the Roberts Radios available that are vintage pre WWII. Modern comforts are not forgotten and the service is second to known. They even offer homemade biscuits for that extra touch of class. One of the most attractive features is the world famous pub that many clients site as the reason they make their stay a little longer than intended.

Dormy House – If you are looking for a otherworld experience Dormy House is as ancient as the Celts but as romantic as the original St. Valentine. The service is top of the line and the fine dining will complete the otherworldly romance that seems to be in the very air. There are eight suites that are usually booked years in advance. This is a real lived in home that is a labor of love that shows in everything you see. The feeling of home coming is surprising because Dormy House comes with accouterments that are not in many homes. But the elegant luxury nestled in the homey interior will make you feel like a royal guest. If you are staying for the gaming, the stunning aesthetics of even the quiet solitude you will want the stay to be extended for as long as possible.

Hotel TerraVina – One of the top five most unique hotels because of its ability to hold it’s own beside the breathtaking New Forest National Park. The Hotel TerraVina brings the green ambiance of the forest and all of it’s most redeeming qualities to life. You can enjoy the beauty and wonder of the forest without getting out of bed. The organic feel of the interior and the well disguised technology that is always in reach combine to create a luxury that you will never forget.

Thirty Two Cheltenham – The Cheltenham’s area is well known for it’s great shopping but a stay at thirty two Cheltenham is an experience all on it’s own. There are only four suites but they are the most elegant, luxurious suites around. When you step over the threshold you will be transported to a world where you feel like the royalty of ancient times. Marble baths with separate sitting rooms and service fit for a King and Queen. This hotel is truly the top of the line of the best hotels. The Guardian, The Independent, Mrs. … Mrs. Smith, The Times, and twenty of the other top travel publications state this as the best hotel ever. You only have to stay once to know how truly right they are.

Moccas Court – an expensive stay but well worth the price. Even being near the site of Moccas Court is an awe inspiring experience. The mystique of the 16th century civility, embraced in 18th century finery and upgraded to 21st century standards excellence this bed and breakfast has enough art alone to provide a full week of leisurely viewing. Surrounded by the verdure of untouched acreage and religious idyllism, the hotel is therapy for the soul and body. The truly upscale luxury takes nothing away from the family atmosphere.

Car Travel: Things You Need To Have A Good Trip

Destinations No Comments

In order to ensure that your trip gets off to a smooth start, it is always smart to pack items you will need in advance. This will allow you to start your trip relaxed knowing that you have all the required items with you already, there is no need to rush or be stressed out about anything, just focus on the trip.

Advance packing allows the traveler to start the trip on a positive note, relaxed and worry fee. They may rest assured they have all of the items that are needed and not have to think about what they may have forgotten. This type of packing also allows travelers to consider what type of snacks they will want to have on hand and to include them.

Determining what you will actually need to pack for your trip is important, you need to be sure to allow enough time for packing and getting things together. Clothing is one of the most critical items to consider, you must have clothes and shoes that will work in the new environment. For example, what will the weather be like? Will laundry services be readily available?

Antibacterial wipes are one of the items you probably do not want to forget to pack for your trip, you will need them, although it may be hard to remember to include them. They are great for sticky fingers, dirty surfaces, or other general uses. Small towels will also prove to be a lifesaver when you are on the road and away from home, you never know what will happen.

Having some good snacks available when you are on a road trip is just invaluable. You will not have to deal with getting off the road to go in search of food and nutrition. Just think about packing some healthy snacks such as salads, carrots, cheese, nuts, or spread when you are preparing to leave for your trip, you will be glad you did.

Ubud Hotels

Destinations No Comments

Some distance from the crowded beaches full of noisy teenagers, only an hours’ drive from Ngurah Rai airport or Kuta you’ll find Ubud, an island within an island. The difference in settings is amazing when you arrive here compared to coastal destinations. Ubud hotels are pure luxury, giving the best accommodation available in Bali. There are no beach resorts and Ubud has grown into one of the most amazing places to go to anywhere in Bali.

The Bali accommodation of Ubud is set amongst the beauty of the rainforest and mountains, with all the hotel and villa accommodation starting from the mid price up to the top 5 star deluxe Ubud Hotels. There are a scattering of budget places to remain but are not situated anywhere near the tranquil settings that makes Ubud such a popular destination.

When it comes to hotel accommodation, there are few places, not only in Bali, but anywhere in the world that can compare to Ubud extravagance. Some of the finest accommodation that Ubud has to supply is the traditional Bali Villas that have been changed to provide pure lavishness and comfort. The most up market villas will be completely isolated from any other building and you will have a feeling that you are completely isolated from anyone else. You will be sitting on a deck area with a backdrop of some natural beauty that only Ubud has to offer, 24 hour room service, air conditioning, all the mod cons that you might wish for. Almost all of the private villas have infinity pools for you to cool down in during the heat of the day. Spas and massage services will be available in the best places, with five star cafes and bar facilities.

There are many art studios and shops to be found in the main village of Ubud. Some of the paintings, sculptures and other designs can be picked up at very reasonable prices. When buying artwork just make sure that there isn’t any ivory, still very common as a medium for some artwork, as you’ll get it confiscated when you arrive home or worse.

In the village you will also find many spas and places where you can get a massage if the service isn’t offered to you at one of the Ubud hotels. Having such a glorious natural surrounding Ubud offers many cycle trails and hiking trails that connect some of the more spectacular views, apart from the mountains and rain forest a visit to the volcano is always thrilling. Personal guides will always be available if you are terrified of getting lost. The hotels and villas all offer day trip Bali tours if you wish to do some diving or whitewater rafting and will organize everything you need.

There is such a lot to take in and experience in Ubud that when you have visited once you are certain to go back for another trip. The terrain around Ubud offers so many different beautiful views that there will be many Ubud hotels that you’re going to be in a position to stay in over a few vacations and still want more ; it is just such an awe inspiring landscape and cultural haven.

As far as destinations in Bali go, Ubud is completely unique and thus busy throughout the year. The Bali weather has a tendency to affect the popularity of the seafront resorts more than Ubud. Although Bali’s wet season is reasonably long, October to May, there’s still lots to experience in Ubud. Having the dense rain forest to explore in the wet rainy season, the cultural programs, and the art courses that are always available brings holiday makers here even if the beaches of Kuta and Sanur are comparatively quiet. The peak season is still from April to Sept, but it’s still significant that you book early enough so that you can stay in one of Ubuds delightful hotels or villas.

If you are looking for Ubud Hotels or any other information to help you decide on your Bali holiday check out Bali Accommodation. From Budget to deluxe we can help you find the right accommodation for your Bali Holiday.

Del Mar – Where The Beautiful People Are

Destinations No Comments

Imagine a vacation paradise in a lovely, relaxing and scenic little village nestled on the endless Pacific Ocean. Your paradise consists of boutique hotels and Inns, famous five star restaurants and mile after mile of gorgeous beaches. Those elements make up the paradise of Del Mar, California.

Del Mar is Spanish for “of the sea” or “by the sea”, because it is located near the Pacific Ocean and is one of the most beautiful and romantic resort beach towns in the world. It’s here you find world-class restaurants, romantic bed and breakfasts, exotic hiking trails, delightful beaches and a world famous horse racing track

Del Mar has been home to celebrities ever since the 1940’s: Bing Crosby and his friend Jimmy Durante worked together to help turn the Del Mar Race Track into the most beautiful and prestigious race tracks in the horse racing world. One could often find Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez at the track. Other celebrities wanted to be closer, so Burt Bacharach and Angie Dickenson purchased residences in Del Mar. Brad Pitt recently purchased a beachfront home in Del Mar for (eighteen million dollars!) – and now Brad Pitt sightings have become the new sport in town.

Del Mar isn’t very large, just two square miles along the Northern San Diego County coast between Solana Beach on the north and Torrey Pines State Reserve on the south. Del Mar has a population of 4000 to 5000 Del-Marians (depending on who is counting) who live among the beautiful sandstone canyons interspersed with hillsides or perched on bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, all of them enjoying beautiful sunsets.

Del Mar is home to the endangered Torrey Pine, the rarest species of pine tree in the United States. Only two populations of this endangered species exist – one in Torrey Pines State Reserve the other in Del Mar proper.

Each summer Del Mar plays host to the San Diego County Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The fair originally opened in 1936, the site selected because it was the perfect spot just off the main highways – while still being near the ocean’s cooling breezes on hot summer days. Selection of a fair queen – Fairest of the Fair – is still a fail highlight each summer.

Singer Bing Crosby took the front role to help bring the now-world-famous Del Mar Race Track into reality. In 1937 the Del Mar Race Track opened to newspapers calling it “Bing’s Baby”. Bing later recorded a song that would eventually open and close every day of racing at Del Mar – Where The Turf Meets the Surf.

Terry Hunefeld retired as a corporate executive in 2007 to spend more time at sea. He now volunteers his time on the board of directors of the Audubon Society and serves as a leader on charter voyages to sea to observe and census seabirds and marine mammals. What To Do During Your Christmas Breaks

Destinations No Comments

Christmas breaks meant being at home with your close family and friends. Given the pressures of modern life, many people are now choosing to spend it away from home. They may travel to a nearby town, state or even to a different country so that they can make the most of the long holiday.

Some people opt for a white Christmas and holiday at glamorous ski resorts. Others want to leave the cold behind and head to sun-kissed beaches and warm weather.

When it comes to skiing, USA and Canada have some top resorts. In the USA, states like Wyoming, Colorado, Vermont, California, New Mexico and Utah have some topnotch resorts with fine powder and varied terrains. British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and Ontario in Canada too have some incredible resorts for skiers, be they beginners or experts.

In Europe, France and Switzerland lead the way, followed by Italy, Austria and Lapland. With the collapse of communism, the Eastern block countries too have opened up great opportunities. Bulgaria, Slovakia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Russia offer incredibly cheap skiing vacations. Many of these destinations are also relatively undiscovered and their resort towns have UNESCO-listed world heritage sites not too far away so you can combine your skiing holiday with some culture and history. In Asia, Japan offers some exciting slopes in the Tohoku and Chubu regions.

Sunny beaches beckon those who want to get away from the cold. From the Caribbean and Europe, to Asia and Australia, there are plenty of pristine sandy beaches where the weather is warm and there’s almost no chance of rain.

The beauty of a beach holiday is that you can do as little or as much as you want. You can simply laze on the beach and work on your tan or go snorkeling, scuba diving or try your hand at an array of water sports. Perhaps the best part about a beach break over Christmas is going back to work in January and flaunting a perfect tan.

Christmas and New Year’s are celebrated with great fanfare almost everywhere around the world. So whether you opt for a white Christmas at a ski resort or a sun-drenched one at a beach, the place you choose to go to will undoubtedly have some festivities planned. Tourists Traps During Caribbean Holidays

Destinations No Comments

Fundamentally, the Caribbean is a region near the Caribbean Sea, which includes coast areas and adjacent islands. With more than seven thousand reefs, cays, islands, and islets Caribbean is located in the Central America towards east.

Barbados, Antigua, Bonaire, and Saint Croix are few of the islands there having a non-volcanic origin and flat landscape. Saint Lucia, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Cuba, and Dominican Republic are some of the islands with a territory of extremely high mountain ranges.

Islands of Caribbean possess gorgeous beaches, marvellous food, prosperous architectural landmark, well-know museums, and welcoming mind-set of the local persons. In other words, this region is an ultimate space for holiday spending. Plentiful astonishing beaches at Caribbean provides admirable opportunity for the people who love exciting activity, while scuba, pitching, yachting, jet skiing, and many more.

Though, people willing to trip to the Caribbean islands for their holidays ought to be familiar with the tourist traps there. People who are planning to travel by ships should know that on majority of the ships, an extra gratuity of 15% is previously added when drink is being ordered. Majority of the persons visiting there for the foremost time are not aware of this piece of information, and sometimes pay tip to the bartender too.

Large numbers of ships also take charges on ordering a bottle of soda, so it will be better to get a soda card on the day of journey for the rest of the days at the cruise in order to avoid additional costs. Caribbean Holidays can be relatively pricey so, it is good to put aside the minute expenditures that one can avoid without difficulty. One can also save money during the outing like transport hiring to take a trip between the several islands, and enjoying good tasty cuisine.

Another big tourist trap is in the ports of the Caribbean island Jamaica. As soon as one gets off the ship, the locals there, carrying armloads of duty free products, surround you and push you to buy their products. These persistent sellers give Jamaica a bad reputation, as most of the products they sell are smoked, which is sad because it gives this gorgeous island a bad reputation. It is best to just decline their offers politely yet, in a firm manner and walk on.

Some other traveller traps in the islands of Caribbean are the hurricanes; the main hurricane striking islands are Saint Lucia and Martinique. Even if rarely happening, these hurricanes, such as The Dean, are very violent, and spoil possessions and exhibit a safety hazard to the pedestrians. It is advisable to check from a weather conditions predict plan prior to planning a holiday at the islands of Caribbean.

The islands of Caribbean also possess a danger of crime, like any other place on the earth. It is recommended that visitors exhibit a courteous behaviour towards locals if they require any sort of assistance, or just do what they have to do on their holiday, and stroll away.

Water Island – Palm Trees and Paradise

Destinations No Comments

Swaying Palm trees. Moon lit nights. Deserted sandy beaches. Life is good on Water Island.

Water Island is the fourth and smallest main island of the U.S. Virgin Islands, or, the last virgin. At a mere 491 acres Water Island has the look and feel of a private island. With a summertime population of about 100 people and a wintertime population of approximately 200 people, you never get the feeling of being crowded.

A traffic jam consists of two or three golf carts being on the road at the same time. The roads are not in great shape and are only about 12 feet wide. That is why golf carts are the main mode of transportation.

Honeymoon Beach is the main attraction for both the handful of full time residents and visitors. The 1/4 mile white stretch of sand is perfect for laying in the sun, snorkeling or just floating in the crystal clear blue water. It is not uncommon to arrive at the beach and be the only ones there. Sitting on the beach and watching the fish jump and the Pelicans dive help relieve any stress you might have brought with you.

Some of the homeowners rent their homes out when they are off island to accommodate visitors. The visitors sometimes call it “The Great Escape”. The beautiful flowers and wildlife, friendly Iguanas, and colorful Bananaquit birds, give you that true “I’m in Paradise” feeling. It is common for first time visitors to return year after year.

Living here is not for everyone. The only commercial establishments on Water Island are a lunch wagon that serves lunch at Honeymoon Beach every day and dinner on Saturday nights, a small beach bar with tropical concoctions and a small restaurant that is open occasionally, no one seems to mind. All supplies must be brought over from nearby St. Thomas.

Getting to and from the island is easy. There is a reliable regularly scheduled small ferry between Crown Bay Marina on St. Thomas and Water Island. Or, like many residents do, use your own boat or dinghy. For the larger items, like vehicles and kitchen appliances you have a good barge service between the islands that can help you.

Real estate does come on the market occasionally but does not last very long as there are only about 100 houses and the demand to own a home on Water Island is at a premium. There has been a small amount of new construction over the past 5 years.

Maintenance and clean-ups of Honeymoon Beach are performed by members of the Water Island Civic Association (WICA) and volunteer residents. Some roadside cutting and a little road repair is performed by the Virgin Islands’ government.

The island was used by the U.S. Government in the 40’s at the start of World War II. The US Government partially constructed an underground fort, Fort Segarra, as part of the U.S. defenses during WWII. The site is empty now but the lookout post provides a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.

Administrative control of Water Island was turned over from the federal government to the territorial government on December 12, 1996, making Water Island the “Last Virgin”. In following years the Department of Interior started transferring land, for a price of course, to the long-time residential leaseholders.

For more information about this Caribbean paradise visit the Water Island Civic Association website. To learn about Real Estate and living on Water Island visit Water Island Properties.
